At our meeting last Wednesday, I talked about effective 1-to-1s. A useful structure for these, or any business interview, is something recommended by BNI experts, called GAINS, which stands for Goals, Accomplishments, Interests, Networks and Skills.
If you’d like to gain an in-depth understanding of your interviewees’ core competencies, ask them about their Goals, Accomplishments, Interests, Networks and Skills.
Doing this should help to spark off ideas of how you might find good referrals for that person.
